Seattle Children's Hospital is a 250-bed children's hospital in the Laurelhurst neighborhood of Seattle, Washington. Children’s delivers superior patient care, advanced new discoveries and treatments through pediatric research, and serves as the pediatric and adolescent academic medical referral center for Washington, Alaska, Montana and Idaho — the largest region of any children’s hospital in the country. |
|
Seattle Children’s is consistently ranked among the nation’s best children’s hospitals by U.S. News & World Report magazine. Thanks to their nursing excellence, they received Magnet status in 2008 — an honor bestowed on less than 4% of all hospitals in the United States. Seattle Children’s is also the primary teaching, clinical and research site for the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Washington School of Medicine, which is ranked one of the top 10 pediatrics programs in the country by U.S. News & World Report. |

Children's Hospital Guild Association
Near the turn of the 20th century, Anna Clise, a prominent and influential Seattle woman, suffered a tragic loss: the death of her 5-year-old son to "inflammatory rheumatism." She was convinced that her son would have lived if there had been adequate pediatric care available. With her grief came a determination to spare other families the same sorrow.
In 1907, Anna Clise invited 23 friends to pledge $20 each to build the first healthcare facility in Seattle and on the West Coast solely devoted to children. The result was the creation of the first guild. Their generous spirit can be seen today in the support of thousands of donors and guild members. In fiscal year 2009, the Guild Association expects to provide more than $100 million in under- and uncompensated care.
The Children’s Hospital Guild Association was incorporated as an independent 501(c)(3) organization and a subsidiary of Children's Health-care System in 1987. Nearly 500 groups of friends, families and co-workers and community members contribute their time, energy, resources and compassion to support Children’s. The guild association is the largest all-volunteer fundraising network for any hospital in the nation.
